Project description
BRK AGRO paulownia is a high-density paulownia project located in Zwevezele, Belgium, covering 1.8 hectares. The project involves the planting of Paulownia Shantong at a density of 15,000 trees per hectare, following planting scheme in the image below.
In addition to the fast-growing Paulownia trees, the project integrates fruit trees and flower strips to enhance local biodiversity and ecological resilience. The first selective harvest is planned for late 2029, with 33% of the biomass harvested per cycle. The harvest rotation is set at four years, and the wood is planned to be used in long-lived building materials, contributing to long-term carbon storage.
This project contributes to carbon sequestration, circular bioeconomy, and biodiversity enhancement.
