Project description
Paulownia Rolleken is a Paulownia project located in Rolleken, 2275 Lille, Belgium, and owned by Peter Van Deuren. The project covers 1.06 hectares and consists of a plantation of Paulownia tomentosa at a density of approximately 800 trees per hectare, planted in June 2025. The project follows the ONCRA Land Stored Carbon Protocol and accounts for increases in Total Ecosystem Carbon, including above-ground biomass, below-ground biomass, and soil organic carbon, relative to the baseline. The first harvest is planned for 2035–2036 with a full harvest, followed by a 10-year harvest cycle. In addition to carbon storage, the site integrates biodiversity measures, including the planting of 44 fruit trees.
About the Remover
The project is operated by Peter Van Deuren, who acts as the remover and retains full legal ownership of the land and the carbon removal outcomes. Peter is responsible for the establishment, long-term management, monitoring, and regeneration of the Paulownia system in line with ONCRA’s MRV requirements. The remover has committed to maintaining the project over the full crediting period and beyond, ensuring permanence through continued land stewardship and regeneration practices, while managing risks through conservative assumptions and participation in ONCRA’s holding pool mechanism.
