Mark Oprins is a true bamboo connoisseur. Together with his father he holds years of experience in propagating and cultivating different species of bamboo. Mark has experienced in different parts of the world what the power of bamboo is for nature, climate and communities.

Convinced of the capacities of this plant as a raw material for biobased materials and the advantages for the soil and climate. Mark has installed this second field of bamboo in the vicinity of Merksplas, in the North of Belgium.

Credibility of project ensured by: Bureau Veritas bamboo method verification, use of two SOC measurement methodologies (agronometer / extern lab), project site visit by carbon engineer.

Project description

Bamboo, known for its remarkable growth rate as the fastest growing grass, offers significant advantages. An advantage of bamboo is its long-term sustainability, requiring only a one-time planting for a lifespan ranging from 60 to 100 years. Moreover, bamboo’s rapid regrowth after pruning or harvesting makes it an exceptionally renewable raw material to use for various application for fossil based materials like; concrete, steel and PVC.
