General Description
Located in Jaguari, RS, at the transition between the Pampa and Atlantic Forest biomes, Buena Onda Agroflorestal was established in August 2020. The project employs Syntropic Agriculture techniques to create a dense, biodiverse system with over 150 plant species. Key crops include blueberry (Vaccinium asheii), yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis), and juçara palm (Euterpe edulis), supporting both ecological and economic sustainability.
Following Dr. Ana Primavesi’s soil health principles, the project ensures constant soil coverage using organic matter from mowed grasses and pruned service trees. No external inputs are used, with the only emissions coming from semi-mechanized mowing. Increasing biodiversity and resilience, the system enables future plantings of native timber and fruit species, aiding carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration. The long-term goal is to transition into a climax forest with enhanced biodiversity and soil health.
The Remover
The project is managed by a dedicated team committed to regenerative land stewardship. Their work aligns with syntropic principles, promoting a self-sustaining agroforestry system that balances food production with ecosystem regeneration.
