Zorgboerderij Blommendal has started agroforestry, an agricultural practice that focuses on increasing biodiversity, biomass and soil quality. At Zorgboerderij Blommendal, they have chosen biodiverse row crop farming. A form in which cows graze on herb-rich grassland and the trees produce nuts and fruit partly with biomass (hugelkultur) raised ground. The aim was to increase biodiversity. The grazing is done by the system. Through the wadis, water is better drained and in case of excess water, and the trees are raised on the hugelkultur. In this way, blommendal is working towards a biodiverse and nature-inclusive system.
