Description CO2 Clean-up method greenSand
GreenSand clears CO2 according to using rock weathering of olivine-rich rocks in terrestrial applications. By changing as much of the conventionally used stone and sand as possible to the use of olivine-rich rock, negative emissions are created. This is because when olivine is weathered, CO2 is extracted from the atmosphere and chemically bound. This is an irreversible process.
Project description
To keep the Amsterdam region accessible, Dura Vermeer is extending the current Amstelveen Line to Uithoorn with the new Uithoorn Line on behalf of Transport Region Amsterdam.
The maintenance paths along the track will be made of olivine: a type of stone that absorbs CO2 from the environment, thereby lowering the CO2 content in the air.
