Eelco van Putten, a fifth-generation farmer, leads Van Putten Agro B.V., a family-owned agricultural enterprise based in Dirksland, Netherlands. They capture carbon on our farm by implementing regenerative agriculture according to the Dietmar Naser method. By stimulating soil life, we enhance carbon sequestration at a faster rate than conventional farming. To support soil health, we minimize artificial fertilizers, instead relying on organic fertilizers, bokashi, and green manures.

Around 45 years ago, the farm diversified into cultivating Brussels sprouts, and today, it produces a variety of crops, including potatoes, sugar beets, cereals, and Brussels sprouts. In recent years, Van Putten Agro has introduced innovative varieties such as purple Brussels sprouts and Kalettes. Purple sprouts stand out for their unique color and milder, nutty flavor, while Kalettes—a cross between kale and Brussels sprouts—offer a distinct, tender texture and taste.

Beyond arable crops, Van Putten Agro cultivates fodder crops for dairy cattle, which help restore soil health and store nitrogen for future planting cycles. To maintain freshness and quality, the farm utilizes PerfoTec liner bags, significantly extending the shelf life of its Brussels sprouts. Through these sustainable practices, Eelco van Putten and Van Putten Agro remain committed to improving soil health, reducing carbon footprints, and producing high-quality, nutritious food.
