Project description
In 2025, Maatschap de Boer – Talsma established a 2.22-hectare paulownia system in Stiens, in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. The project focuses on increasing total ecosystem carbon (TEC) storage through the planting and long-term management of fast-growing Paulownia trees, with additional tree species planted to enhance biodiversity. Carbon is stored in above-ground biomass, below-ground root biomass, and soil organic carbon (SOC).
About the remover
The project is owned and operated by Maatschap de Boer – Talsma, a Dutch agricultural partnership based in Stiens, Friesland, legally represented by Lieuwe de Boer. The partnership has committed to a minimum stewardship period of 10 years and does not intend to sell the land during this period, reflecting a long-term commitment to sustainable land management and carbon removal.
