Land Stored Carbon

Paulownia, the fastest-growing hardwood tree, offers significant environmental benefits. It efficiently absorbs CO2, enhances soil fertility, prevents erosion, and retains moisture. With a lifespan of 60–100 years and rapid regrowth after harvesting, it is a highly sustainable resource. Paulownia-derived products help meet the rising demand for biobased, CO2-positive building materials, supporting net-zero goals.

About the Remover

Egon Schrama, owner of fruit-growing company Fruitteelt EHM Schrama, has planted 1.78 hectares with 1640 Shantong paulownia trees in 2024 in Sterksel, the Netherlands. The Paulownia trees are planted along the older fruit trees, ensuring diversity in the tree stand. The first harvest of the Paulownia trees is planned in 2033.
